What differs between home and business project terms

Residential vs Commercial Projects

Understanding the key differences in process and requirements

Legal Differences
Residential projects are protected under California consumer law (e.g., cancellation rights, down payment caps). Commercial contracts are governed by general construction law and custom terms.
Contract Types
We use different contract forms for residential and commercial projects, depending on legal requirements and project complexity.
Payment Flexibility
Commercial clients may negotiate larger mobilization payments. Residential clients are subject to the standard down payment limits by law.
Lien Process
All projects are subject to California's mechanics' lien laws. Residential contracts include direct lien warnings; commercial projects use preliminary notices.
Right to Repair (Residential Only)
For new residential construction, we follow California's Right to Repair law (SB800). Commercial clients resolve defects through standard contract remedies.
